You are in the Union Yoga Classes Zone

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga

Our main classes are based on ‘ashtanga vinyasa’ yoga. This is a fluid, flowing form of yoga that teaches you to breathe deeply, connecting the breath and stretching movements to form a structured sequence.

You will sweat as you practice, encouraging greater flexibility and helping detox your system. Repetition of the movements gradually helps develop a strong, toned body and clear focused mind.

With variations making this practice accessable to everyone you will quickly see improvements both physically and mentally. Join the likes of Sting and Madonna in discovering the fabulous benefits of this ancient art.

Hatha Yoga

The word Hatha is a compound of the words 'Ha' and 'Tha' meaning sun and moon. The polarity of opposites - balancing energies, breath, posture and movement.

These classes are suitable for all levels on a drop in basis and are generally less dynamic. The focus is on correct alignment and holding the postures for longer periods until the body naturally relaxes and opens.

These classes can either be taken on their own or as a supplement to your regular ashtanga yoga practice. Ashtanga practicioners often find that by holding the postures for longer periods of time it provides a much deeper insight into what is happening within their body and the asanas.

Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini Yoga is a sacred science dealing specifically with the basic life energy Prana. Dynamic, powerful tool for expanding awareness, enabling you to experience the divine identity within.
Its practice balances the glandular system, strengthen the nervous system and harnesses the energy of the mind and the emotions.

  • Inspiration for a “Healthy, Happy, Holy life”.

Pranayama

Breathing is life. It is one of our most vital functions. One of the Five Principles of Yoga is Pranayama or Breathing Exercise which promotes proper breathing. In a Yogic point of view, proper breathing is to bring more oxygen to the blood and to the brain, and to control Prana or the vital life energy. Pranayama Yoga also goes hand in hand with the Asanas. The union of these two Yogic Principles is considered as the highest form of purification and self-discipline, covering both mind and body.

Pregnancy Yoga

Pregnancy yoga is a very gentle approach to the well being of both mother and child at this special time. With emphasis on breathing and relaxation, and experienced guidance in mild postures its the perfect way to prepare for the birth and nurture a new being into the world.

The classes are lead by Victoria Bosso, an experienced yoga teacher qualified to teach pregnancy yoga. Victoria has been practicing yoga for over 15 years.

Tripsichore Yoga Flow

Tripsichore began in 1979 as a company devoted to creating full length dance narratives. We explored a variety of stylistic forms including punk ballet, conventional modern dance and strict neo-classical technique.
While yoga was always a part of our training, it wasn't until 1992 that we realised the expressive potential and choreographic viability of yoga postures. Once we began to devise works using yoga asanas, their extraordinary artistic logic became evident. Surprisingly, it would seem that there has been no orthodox tradition for using yoga technique to create dances in the 5000 year history of the discipline. The postures intrinsically possess a sumptuous beauty and fluidity. They are the ideal vehicle to express the themes of harmony, balance, spirituality, ecstasy, bliss and mysticism because they are exactly about these subjects in and of themselves. We are now many years into this experiment and each day brings new discoveries.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga has the same goals and objectives as any other school of yoga; however, it directs the stimulation normally created in the asana portion of the practice deeper than the superficial or muscular tissues. Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice.

Suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.
